Listening with Deep Intention

The validation of children does not come so much from helping them, as it does hearing them. Most parents and professionals are engaged in fixing and advicegiving modes of helping. These focus on what children need to hear from us… rather than what we need to hear and receive from them. This profound training is designed to immerse participants in the experience of listening with an ear towards ‘being with’, rather than ‘doing for’ children.

Training Objectives

• Recognizing participants’ key barriers to listening.
• Seeing the difference between open-ended and closed-ended questions, and the significant impact these styles have upon the person being listened to.
• Seeing and feeling the bridge that compassionate empathy makes in having relationship with others.
• Activating children’s inner wisdom.
• Experiencing the vast difference it makes to “be with” rather than to “do for” children.
